17/08/09 - Still working on the CD. Its now entitled "Beyond Earth" after one of the songs on it. Got a great looking cover, and my brother (Vertabreak) has offered to master the MP3s. Which is a good idea, because I'm rubbish :) Its all coming together. Doing a little more Gameboy music now because I've just started dabbling in Pocket Music. I went through all the songs I've ever made on LSDJ, and there's only 3 I'd consider playing at a gig. Slightly depressing thought :( Oh, and I've decided to change my name to Transparent Purple Theory. Sounds a bit better I reckon :)
27/07/09 - Yep, "Beyond Facepalm" is officially scrapped. Going to find another title for my album/EP/demothingy. Its going to feature 6 songs from Music & Music 3000, and a fantastic remix by Vertabreak! I've just finished tweaking most of the songs. Just going to rerecord the final tracks and we're good to go :) I've also investigated a possible gig venue in Milton Keynes. Hopefully some time in the future I'll be able to play music to people :) Cool
09/07/09 - Making more and more music with Music & Music 3000. LSDJ is getting left by the wayside a little bit. After planning an album/E.P entitled "Beyond Facepalm", I think I may scrap that name. Not sure I like it any more.
13/06/09 - I've made my first tunes with Music on the PS1. And I'm very happy with them. So it looks like the "100% Game Boy only" approach to albums will be going out the window. Future EPs/Albums will probably have both LSDJ and Music tracks on them. I'm far from ditching LSDJ at the moment tho. I've just finished a breakbeat track on LSDJ using the noise channel instead of samples. Got a couple of positive comments on them too :)
29/04/09 - I'm still here and still making music. A lot of the stuff I'm making has loads of samples running at 200bpm. So a standard DMG isn't able to handle it. So the time has come to learn how to solder and make myself a prosound mod.
20/12/08 - Have released "I Refuse to be 30" to worldwide ignorance. Thats because I'm not posting any release details on 8bc. I'm proud of this release, and not really caring what other people think of it, so I'm not going to inflict it on them :D Check out the Music section for download details. I'm also working on an LSDJ kit featuring the speech samples from the spectrum version of "I, Ball". I would do the original C64 speech, but it was too clean for my liking ;-)
29/11/08 - Woah, long time since I updated anything. I made a sample kit for LSDJ, featuring sounds of a Police Scanner. Kitsch-bent has it uploaded on his kit webpage. Which is pretty cool. Ive had some good comments about songs I've uploaded to 8bc.org, and I'm really starting to enjoy making music. I know thats what its supposed to be all about, but the politics of 8bc brought me down for the most part.
Anyhow, onwards and upwards. Almost completed a new EP entitled "I refuse to be 30 (bring on the midlife crisis)". Just finishing one more song (I came up with a killer riff today) and putting a cover on it and I'm done.
19/09/08 - Okay I'm getting really quite sad about stuff. I've uploaded "The Insidious Sound of Sadistic Rage" to 8bc.org. It had 23 plays, which is a good thing. One person liked it, also a good thing. But after asking for a criticism, nobody seems to want to. I can only assume that the elite consider it not worth bothering with, and I'm not cool enough for the cool kids to want to listen to. Either way I'm giving up posting words on 8bc.org. I seem to be ignored whatever I say. I'll post news of releases, but other than that I can't be getting upset every time I upload a song. So bollocks to it. If I get happiness out of what I do then thats all that matters :)
So bring on the Amen breaks !!!! :D
10/09/08 - Haven't got around to sending my cover of You're My Mate to RSF. I tried putting vocals on it but it sounded like shite kareoke. Not sure if I should keep the song or not. I've uploaded a new song, Spinny Spinny Lady, onto 8bc. It was met by 9 views, and 1 positive comment from Epichunt. Would have been happier if more people had listened to it. I think people see "Transparentpurpletrip" and say "Oh god not listening to that". Which is a bit depressing. Happy that Epichunt said good things tho. And I've taken control of my Last.fm page, so I'm happy about that. I've started dabbling with the LSDJ Amen kit, along with Rex42's C64 kits. Could be an interesting mix ;-)
03/08/08 - People may not be downloading the EP because the download button didn't work .Its probably not the reason, but thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Button fixed now
02/08/08 - Still no more people downloading Cranky Birdage. Oh well. I've actually just finished a cover of "You're my mate" by Right Said Fred. It will be released on 8bc just as soon as I've added my vocals and ran the release past the original band. Yes thats right, I'm going to send the MP3 to the famous Fairbrass brothers and make sure they're okay with me releasing it. I think I'm well within my legal rights to, but I wouldn't want to offend RSF. Watch this space
30/06/08 - Since its first release, 4 people have downloaded Cranky Birgage!! Lol! Well its not really surprising. The only place I advertised it is at 8bc.org and on my company's signature. Not exactly spreading the word :) Oh well. However, my girlfriend's nephew heard it and will probably use Super Nashwan in a video game he's making. I've told him to put my name on the credits ;-) I'm currently following an auiction for Pocket music for the GBA. Will I be selling out by going up to 16 bit music? I don't think so. If people can use an Amiga to create music and that is still considered chiptune, then I think I can get away with using a GBA. If not, who pigging cares!! I'll make what I chuffing well like!! Lol
09/06/08 - Its finally here! Cranky Birdage is released today. I kept putting it back further and further, adding just one more song. I went on holiday recently and put together a couple of nifty little ditties on Trippy-H, which I used for the intro and outro (each one named after one of my brother's cockateils). Its actually an EP that I'm quite proud of. Don't get me wrong, I still can't put a song together. But at least there are some interesting sounds on it. Lets hope I get more than 1 download ;-)
06/05/08 - Changed the way around the news flows. Makes sense to have new news at the top :) Not sure if my netlabel or someone elses will release the EP. At the end of the day its only a question of bandwidth that makes me want to release the EP elsewhere. I've got time to think it over, I'm in no hurry :)
23/04/08 - I've decided not to release the EP myself but instead ask a few netlabels if they would be interested in publishing my music. Much as I would like to release the EP myself, and have full control over how it is distributed, there are a lot of benefits in being part of a label that I can't ignore. I'll ask around and see. I've also started playing around with Pocket Music for the CGB, watch this space for weird sounding stuff :)
17/04/08 - Wow. I never thought I'd have news to tell a day after making my website. Now all I need is someone interested enough to read it! Anyhow, I'm pushing back the release of Cranky Birdage until I've finished a couple of tracks I'm working on. One of them is an LSDJ remix of the theme to Flying Shark on the ZX Spectrum, which seems to be going really well. Lets see how it turns out ;-)
16/04/08 - New website made and up and running. Waaay! :D Just finished doing the front cover for my EP "Cranky Birdage", which will be released just as soon as the inlay is finished :)
